Roller Blinds

A very popular blind, their versatility and attractive yet functional finish means that they are suitable for any window and for overhead glazing. The Tidmarsh finely balanced mechanism makes them simple to operate and a quick way of updating a room scheme

Application

Roller Blinds are not just for privacy. They can be used to completely black out the window or to filter the amount of light into the room to a specified percentage, they are frequently used as a design feature or they can be highly functional and be thermal and flame proof

Style

  • We can supply a range of standard wooden barrels but we also hand craft our own metal rollers to create the perfect degree of strength and tension
    • This contains our specially designed helical spring customised to the weight of the fabric
  • Blinds can be made up from one of our wide range of designer fabrics (we have accounts with most of the fabric houses) or made using client's own material

Operation

  • Roller blinds can either manually operated via a spring mechanism or a side stainless steel chain
  • Alternatively, they can be motorised and recent developments have meant these can be entirely silent with a choice of operating systems
    • Remote control
    • Simple wall switch
    • Integration into a home audio visual system such as Lutron or Crestron or an entire building management system
  • This allows for installation where blind access may be awkward, extremely large windows or just for ease of use and the motor is housed discreetly inside the roller tube
  • Where appropriate, we can incorporate Solar, Light Sensitive, Temperature, Wind and Time control systems

Tidmarsh Heritage Roller Blind

Our 'heritage system' of roller blind is favoured by conservation experts who need to replace, match and install roller blinds in listed buildings and palaces i.e The National Trust & English Heritage. It is historical authenticity compliant and includes the 'Tidmarsh Patent Action Spring Roller' dating back to 1880s

  • This system is used wherever robust construction and reliability is required as we believe it to be best system available
  • Uniquely, we manufacture the springs in the factory
    • Tailoring each spring to the fabric
  • Producing the best balance between the weight of the fabric and the torque developed
  • As there is no external mechanism, the blind fabric can be taken to the maximum width on the roller

As before, these blinds can be motorised which is of considerable importance in special circumstances where historical accuracy goes hand in hand with convenience of operation

  • This can be housed discreetly in the tube so has very little impact on the overall appearance of the blinds
  • Our Solar Control function is particularly useful in instances where it is necessary to protect delicate furnishings and artwork from sun and light in unattended or inaccessible locations

Pull Up Roller Blinds

As the name suggests, these are installed at the base of the window and are pulled upwards. They are ideal for partial and total privacy at the height required whilst allowing natural light to enter the room from the top of the window. Operated by an 'all round' or 'central' pulley system secured by a cleat, these blinds can be made from one of our wide range of designer fabrics or made using clients' own material

Sun Blinds

As recommended by leading interior designers, we have a range of Sun Blinds. These sit discreetly behind the curtains to protect delicate fabrics and silks from fading and light damage whilst still allowing natural daylight into the room. The fabrics used are UV resistant in themselves and give a UV protection performance that can be specified to a certain percentage of transmission through the fabric.
